A Letter From Our President

group photo sof salisbury police officers interacting with community and school children

Did you know that the average police officer may experience more than three traumatic events every six months of service (i.e. fatal accidents, murders, suicides, and life-threatening incidents against themselves or others) and of those officers, 35% will develop post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms?

It takes special training for officers and support staff to be prepared when these events happen and specialized services to facilitate officer’s recovery from the trauma. Unfortunately, these programs can be expensive and are often not funded by the department’s budget.

On behalf of the Salisbury Police Foundation (SPF) board of directors, we are reaching out to you to support the men and women of the Salisbury Police Department. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to support members of the Salisbury Police Department in areas of their heath and wellness, and recognizing the community’s indebtedness to their service that are outside of their city-funded budget.

We are seeking help from private citizens and vested businesses. The Foundation is asking for your help and for you to join with the SPF by supporting our inaugural fundraising luncheon to be held at noon on Wednesday, September 28, at Catawba College’s Crystal Lounge. We are seeking sponsorship levels that will help us meet our goals. Our donor levels are listed above..

You will notice that certain sponsorship levels include advertising your support with our media partner and during the event. Some levels will afford you and your team table slots so you can come enjoy the luncheon and its program. Because of this, I am asking you to notify us of your intentions to sponsor by Monday, September 19.

Thank you and with warm regards,

John Struzick
Salisbury Police Foundation, President

Gym Renovation Project

The Foundation raised funds to renovate the Police department's gym and fitness equipment.

Physical fitness is an important aspect of an officer's ability to fulfill their duties as well as maintain their health. The department had received donations of gym equipment over time, but many of donations deteriorated in condition with time and use. Also, much of the electric powered equipment shown in the photo gallery was not working.

The successful fundraising effort allowed the Foundation to buy new equipment and provide officers with a better looking and more efficient gym that meets their needs.
